An air of sadness descended over our school last Thursday, as we learned of the passing of the Chairperson of our Board of Management and good friend, Paddy Fitzgerald. Paddy assumed his role as chairperson of our school twelve years ago and has been an advocate for St. Mary’s ever since. (more…)
We had our first Wellness Week last week and by all accounts it was a big hit for our pupils and staff. The aim was to highlight the importance of looking after our mental health in addition to our fitness and eating habits. Organised by Mrs. Barry, each day had a theme. Mindfulness Monday gave the children an opportunity to engage in mindfulness, meditations, yoga and art activities. Joanne Dee facilitated a guided meditation session during Junior assembly. (more…)
This week we have been learning all about the Antarctic and penguins. We brought this learning to life in Aistear by building our own igloos, ice fishing for sounds, roleplay in an igloo and small world play of the Antarctic itself! We learned a lot and it was ‘Snow’ much fun!
