Last Friday was wear red to school day. Staff and pupils wore red to school to support the Wlr/Lions Club Christmas hamper appeal. We were delighted to hand over €520 to this very worthy cause. Thank you to everybody who donated so generously.

Mr. Curran’s class were thrilled to get to work on the ipads to create their very own Christmas stories. They worked with Ms. Healy during Literacy Lift Off time, to become author and illustrator of their first story. The stories were printed out and the children got to read them to their friends. Mrs. O’ Regan’s sixth class brought their maths lesson to the outdoor classroom. Christmas clues were hung up around the area and the girls had to work together to figure out the answers. Great way to spend some time. (more…)

Sixth class were delighted to venture outside of the school grounds for carol singing. The girls got to sing outdoors for the residents of Dunabbey House nursing home. They sang beautifully and the residents were happy to get into the festive spirit. Well done girls. (more…)
Our final festive Friday was wear red to school day. Staff and children wore red to school and contributed to the Wlr fm/ Lions Club Christmas hamper appeal. Once again Christmas music rang out in the playgrounds. Classes were treated to fun activities on the day too. Some classes had hot chocolate, others recorded their Christmas songs for parents whilst others had fun playing board games. What an enjoyable festive Friday! (more…)
Junior infants were very busy during Christmas Aistear this week. Santa’s workshop had to be built, presents had to be wrapped, toys had to be road tested and Santa’s reindeers had to be prepared for their long journey. Phonics Friday takes place every week in junior infants. They children work at different stations to reinforce the sounds learnt during that week. The class teacher and an SET help the boys and girls at the writing stations, on the interactive whiteboard and on the ipads. The children have great fun during these sessions and look forward to each Friday. (more…)

Our second Festive Friday was titled “Crafting Friday”. The children were asked to wear a Christmas jumper or festive headgear to school. Christmas music welcomed the boys and girls into school, along with a giant inflatable Santa!! The children had their individual Christmas photo taken in front of a beautiful Christmas backdrop. Thanks to Teresa and Jay for organising this. Christmas art and crafts and baking, took place in each classroom throughout the day. What a lovely way to spend the day. (more…)
