Christmas Aistear

Junior infants were very busy during Christmas Aistear this week. Santa’s workshop had to be built, presents had to be wrapped, toys had to be road tested and Santa’s reindeers had to be prepared for their long journey. Junior Infants:Phonics Friday

Phonics Friday takes place every week in junior infants. They children work at different stations to reinforce the sounds learnt during that week. The class teacher and an SET help the boys and girls at the writing stations, on the interactive whiteboard and on the ipads. The children have great fun during these sessions and look forward to each Friday. (more…)

Crafting Friday

Our second Festive Friday was titled “Crafting Friday”. The children were asked to wear a Christmas jumper or festive headgear to school. Christmas music welcomed the boys and girls into school, along with a giant inflatable Santa!!  The children had their individual Christmas photo taken in front of a beautiful Christmas backdrop. Thanks to Teresa and Jay for organising this. Christmas art and crafts and baking, took place in each classroom throughout the day. What a lovely way to spend the day. (more…)


Fluffy Friday

Festive Fridays returned with a bang. This week’s theme was Fluffy Friday. The children were welcomed into school with Christmas music playing over the loud speaker. The boys and girls were asked to wear fluffy socks and to bring in a fluffy blanket. They were treated to a Christmas movie and popcorn. What a cosy day! (more…)


Senior Infant Toy Show

In anticipation of the Late Late Toy Show, senior infants decided to give it a go themselves. Parents very kindly sent in photos of their children’s favourite toy. Ms. Kiely and Ms. O’ Connor proudly displayed these photos on the whiteboards. The boys and girls got to take it in turn to come up and speak about their favourite toy. Toy Show Treat Bags

There was huge excitement in the air as all talk turned to the Toy Show last Friday. Junior infants prepared by decorating cookies to have as a treat while watching the Toy Show. They were delighted to be given a treatbag with other goodies inside to take home. The Gingerbread Man was also the story of the week. To finish off the theme, the children got to decorate some gingerbread men which they added to their treatbags. (more…)


Maths Eyes

Sixth class recently took part in the Maths Eyes competition which is an innovative approach to building a positive image of maths. It involves giving the learner a new perspective of the world around them, by encouraging them to see everyday objects in terms of maths eg. numbers, shapes, length etc. Pictured above are three girls who received certs commending their excellent work. Well done girls, some achievement!


Phonics And Patterns

Aistear: At The Doctor’s Surgery

Junior infants have been using the outdoor Aistear area once again. This week’s theme was At the Doctor’s Surgery. The boys and girls learned through role play.
