Sixth class decided to run a Halloween colouring competition. Each class were involved and there were two prizes in each room up for grabs. Ms. Kiely’s first class have been keeping themselves busy towards the end of this term. They were involved with collecting leaves for hedgehog art, a maths trail, poetry writing and Halloween art. Well done on taking part in all those activities. (more…)

To celebrate Maths Week, Ms. Harty brought her maths groups out and about on a maths trail. The girls had to use various maths skills to answer the questions. They were estimating, counting, finding shapes, discussing odd and even numbers and using their school environment. The girls enjoyed the break away from the classroom and are looking forward to the next one already! (more…)

Our senior infants and first classes have enjoyed their first term of literacy lift off which took place two or three mornings a week. The boys and girls are involved in two reading stations, a phonics station and a writing station. We are so lucky to have this worthwhile initiative still going strong after all these years. Mrs. Ryan’s junior infants have been so excited this week as they got to take part in Halloween Aistear. Once again, our junior outdoor classroom was the place to be. They also had some spooky fine motor activities back in the classroom.  (more…)

Our sixth class girls were successful in their first zoom debate this year. They were up against a team from St. Mary’s CBS Clonmel. The girls opposed the motion “Tik Tok has caused more harm than good to young people’s confidence”. Congratulations and best of luck for the next one.  (more…)

We were delighted to welcome Aoife from Rinka, who paid us a visit last Friday. Rinka is a children’s fitness programme that is non-competitive and just for fun. Some of our classes received a taster session, and had a whole lot of fun taking part in stretching exercises, obstacle courses and team games. Thank you Aoife and we hope to see you again. (more…)

Summer Stars is a reading initiative run by Waterford libraries. It’s aim is to encourage children to continue reading over the Summer months. The children fill in their card and are rewarded with a medal and a beautiful certificate. Congratulations to Ailish, Louise and Janey. (more…)

One of our most popular days of the year took place last Friday…GOAL Jersey Day. The school was awash with colour as everyone donned their favourite jersey. There was much talk about who supported what team and what each crest looked like. The aim was to raise money for the charity GOAL, who provide much needed assistance to those who need it most around the globe. A massive €399.60 was raised on the day. Thank you so so much to everyone who donated and to those who wore a jersey on the day. Here’s to next year! (more…)
