Last month, Ms. Kiely’s sixth class wrote letters to other students in a school in Dublin with the aim of forming new friendships. This week, the girls were thrilled to receive an individual reply inside their own personalised envelope. There were many chats about their new friends afterwards. Ms. Solich’s class took on the challenge of project work and they certainly rose to the challenge. They were tasked with researching a topic that interested them. They were to find information, write about it, illustrate and cite their sources. They were so proud of their efforts and so they should be! (more…)
Ms. Solich’s class are taking part in the Picker Pals programme. The aim of this is to raise awareness of litter, the sources and the reasons for it. The programme provides motivation and the tools for children and teachers to create a better environment. The boys and girls enjoyed donning their bibs and gloves on a litter pick around the school. Fourth class began their cycle training from Cycle Right Ireland. What a beautiful day to choose to be outdoors for their first cycling lesson. The girls were keen to get started and their coaches were impressed by the girls who took instruction well. Onwards and upwards for the next five weeks. (more…)
As a reward for all their hard work over the past few weeks, Ms. Healy enlisted her senior infants to help create a digraph display. Repurposing cardboard boxes, they brightened them up with coloured paper. Then, they collected little items from around the school to match the digraph. Next, a photograph of each of the children saying the sound and accompanying it with the action was taken to add to the display. To say that they were chuffed to bits with their finished product is an understatement! What a fabulous idea. (more…)
