There was a welcome return to the playing fields last Monday for the pupils of St. Mary’s and indeed, all pupils across the county.

The girls of St. Mary’s have been eagerly awaiting the return to the pitches for the last two years and it finally arrived last Monday. First up was football and the girls set off for Abbeyside GAA pitch with great anticipation to play their first blitz.
Although a very cold day the girls were well prepared for the task in hand. They played three games in total. They were victorious against Abbeyside and Scoil Gharbháin. They were beaten by the narrowest of margins by Garranbane. However their two wins was enough to see them through to a semi final against Lismore; which will be played next Tuesday in Cappoquin.
Well done to all the girls who train hard every week under the guidance of Mr. Curran and their class teachers, Ms. Kiely, Ms. Power and Mrs. O’Regan. Thanks to all the parents who came over to support the girls on the day. A special word of thanks to the organising committee of Cumann na mBunscol and Abbeyside GAA pitch for facilitating the games.
Best of luck in the semi final girls!
