Our ukulele performance was a product of our involvement with Music Generation and music teacher, Colin Harris, this year. Music Generation is Ireland’s National Music Education Programme that transforms the lives of children and young people through access to high quality performance music education in their locality.
Initiated by Music Network, Music Generation is co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships.
We were extremely lucky and appreciative to be involved in this Programme this year, where all children from 3rd to 6th class got the opportunity to learn to play the ukulele. Colin Harris, our music teacher, demonstrated great patience and expertise to ensure all children learned the basics of playing the ukulele. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning this new skill and their ability to play was evident in such a wonderful end of year concert. A special thanks to teacher, Ms. Ryan, for organising the school’s involvement in this programme.
