National Pumpkin Competition Winner

Updated: 11th Nov 2020

We received the fantastic news that Ms. Quinn’s 4th class were the winners of the National Botanical Gardens virtual pumpkin competition. They won first place in the environmental category for their decorated pumpkin. The title attached was “Fighting Covid”, a very apt title for the times we are living in.

Ms. Quinn explained the meaning behind their design. “We wanted to choose a project that was going to get the whole class involved. Every child and pod got a chance to paint and decorate our pumpkins. We chose the globe because everyone has been affected by Covid. In order to fight this pandemic, we need TEAMwork and qualities like resilience, kindness, helpfulness and respect. These were written on lollipop sticks and placed on top of the pumpkin accompanied by colourful pom-poms. The colour represents the happy and good things in our lives. The second and sad looking Covid 19 pumpkin is made with glittery pom-poms and is meeting its demise with a vaccine of T.E.A.M. Together Each Achieves More. … the importance of each person working to fight the virus”. The girls are now eagerly awaiting their prize of A One For All voucher to arrive. A huge congratulations to Ms. Quinn and her class and also to Mrs. Ryan for submitting their entry. We are so proud and delighted for you all.

Pictured below are some of the other class entries submitted. We have very creative members of staff and students. Well done everybody.
