4th Class Feature on RTE News2Day

Updated: 19th Mar 2020

Our school has been very busy engaging with a project to promote problem solving https://www.greenwaypathsandpuzzles.com/ This project is being piloted by the Department of Education & Skills and funded by the Schools Excellence Fund.

We are working on using the Waterford Greenway as an outdoor classroom to develop problem solving skills in our pupils. Three other schools are involved-Scoil Gharbháin, Kilmacthomas P.S. and St. Augustine’s College.

Kilmacthomas P.S. recently hosted a STEM Fair and kindly invited the other schools to come along. The pupils of Kilmacthomas had prepared various Maths and Science activities for the other children to complete. It was thoroughly engaging for all involved and we certainly appreciate the effort and work put in by all the staff and pupils of Kilmacthomas P.S.

RTE News2Day heard about the initiative and came along to film the children in action on the day. The excitement was palpable. Aisling Moloney, our own local presenter, interviewed some of the children which was aired on RTE https://www.rte.ie/news/player/news2day/2020/0313/last week.
