Giraffes In Senior Infants

Cheesy Wotsits And Speech Marks

Ms. Smith grabbed the attention of her class when she produced a bag of cheesy Wotsits. They had been learning about speech marks,  and now was their chance to put it into action. They were allowed to write on their desk and were asked to place the Wotsits where the speech marks should go. What a fun way to learn! (more…)

Picker Pals With Second Class

Ms. O’ Keeffe’s second class were continuing with Picker Pals this week. This programme motivates children to lead litter-picking adventures. It also gives them the opportunity to make the world a better place. They began their litter-pick in the playground and continued by doing a loop outside the school grounds. Well done girls. The Innocent Big Grow

GIY is on a mission to get kids growing their own food and have teamed up with Innocent to run this exciting initiative called The Big Grow. Senior infants received delivery of their free kit and got stuck into growing some vegetables. They can’t wait to see their beetroot, peas, radishes, spinach and salad leaves bloom. (more…)

Out and About With Junior Infants

Junior infants were keen on getting outdoors this week. They played sight word hopscotch in the playground and also ventured down to the duck pond. They were very happy to visit the local duck pond to feed the ducks. (more…)

Handa’s Surprise

Senior Outdoor Classroom

Inspired by the junior outdoor classroom, the sixth class girls set about creating theirs. They are in the early stages but are enjoying the challenge. They wrote some beautiful poetry and attached it to the tree. To brighten up the place, they recycled plastic bottles to make flowers. They used bright colours to decorate these. Junior Outdoor Classroom

Our junior outdoor classroom has come about thanks to our wonderful caretaker Jonathan, Miss Healy and Miss Smith. Jonathan worked tirelessly to transform this outdoor space. He began by clearing the area and then painting it so as to brighten it up.  He then made an enclosed pergola where the children can read. (more…)

Banana Bread

Miss Smith’s class got to bake banana bread from scratch. They mixed the ingredients together in a bowl. While it was baking, there was a wonderful aroma in the long corridor. Once it had cooled, the got to enjoy the delicious banana bread. (more…)
