Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026

Updated: 22nd Mar 2026
In St Mary’s we have been having great craic, celebrating and immersing the pupils in the Irish language. Seachtain na Gaeilge allows the children to engage in their language and culture in a fun and interactive way.
The pupils have been making a great effort to speak in Irish and the teachers have awarded 2 pupils a Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine prize. Céilí agus Siamsa were enjoyed by both pupils and staff.

World Book Day 2026

Updated: 22nd Mar 2026
World Book Day is an exciting time in St Mary’s where children celebrate the joy of reading and sharing stories. Pupils brought their favourite books from home and took part in **book sharing activities**, where they recommend stories to their classmates and talk about why they enjoyed them.
Children in the senior classes wrote book reviews on their favourite books., helping students practice expressing their opinions and encouraging others to try new books. Many thanks to Ms Mc Grath for hosting a book tasting event, The junior library and Lunch room were set up like a café and children rotated around tables to “sample” different books by reading a few pages from each one.  The children and teachers really enjoyed this event.
The World Book Day activities in St Mary’s help build a love of reading, allow pupils to discover new authors and genres, and make reading a fun and social experience. 📚✨
